Jen Sudduth, Managing Director, Taylor Winfield Executive Search moderated a panel discussion on True Executive Leadership at the recent 3rd Annual Kayo Women’s Energy Investment Conference held on June 13, 2017. Panel members included executives in energy and finance who offered their insights into successful and unsuccessful executive leadership. A few key takeaways from the discussion included:

1.  Change Agent: Be a change agent. Be the person who sees what needs to be changed and make it happen.
2.  Adaptive Capacity: Adapting to your circumstances is a necessity for a successful leader. Your ability to transcend adversity and effectively deal with stress will enable you to emerge even stronger than before.
3.  Self-discovery: Be aware of your strengths and weaknesses; push yourself to the limit and stretch yourself professionally.
4.  Resilience: Don’t let a bump in the road slow you down and don’t let other people’s perspectives determine your own self-worth.
Panelists included Wendy A. Carlson, Managing Director of Prudential Capital Group’s Energy Finance Group, Jennifer Gottschalk, Partner, EIV Capital, Sammy Haroon, CEO, The RBR Group, and Eileen Kamerick, Board Director, Hochschild Mining.
